300g sugar
180ml water
750g Granny Smith apples
120g cake flour

Peel and core the quinces and cut them into wedges. Place the quinces in a pot with sugar and water and simmer until they are just tender.
Peel and cote the apples and cut into wedges. Add to the quinces and mix together. Simmer without a lid for another 10 minutes until the apples are just tender.
Preheat the oven to 180. In a medium-sized bowl mix together the flour and castor sugar; rub in the butter with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Spoon the fruit into a medium-sized baking dish and spread the crumbed mixture evenly over the fruit. Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown, serve warm with custard or cream.
